The Psychotherapeutic Significance of Skin

Therapists using touch will learn nuance and more possibilities.
David will explain how the skin is the primary organ of communication for the embryo, fetus and the first years of child development.
He will refer to his experience working as a Rolfer, Gestalt and Transactional Psychotherapist and Touching Dialogue Therapist which has convinced him that touching the skin of clients as an organ of communication allows access to the motivational source within the client. While contacting the motivational source within the client, the therapist can invite fear to become enthusiasm, can invite doubt to become pride, can change caution to courage.
David will relate some discoveries and insights as to how touch with clients can transmit the early child development permissions of to be; to do; to play; to be close and to succeed to the cellular remembered child within the adult.
You will be given the opportunity to try and experience for your yourself the methods described by exchanging touch with a partner with David guiding how you can use your intention and awareness as well as the quality of touch to communicate to the person you are touching.
The insights and practices shared are the extract of David’s 53 years of working as a Rolfer, Gestalt and Transactional Psychotherapist and Touching Dialogue Therapist. In the 1980’s he developed Touching Dialogue to more fully meet the needs of his clients.

CLOTHING:
Please wear cloths in which you are comfortable moving creatively on the floor + something with an arm sleeve that you can roll up or take off.

This mini lecture and workshop is designed specially for the teachers and therapists renting space at SALIG. Normal price for the content of this mini workshop and lecture would be 850 kr.
TEACHER: David Kirk-Campbell
David Kirk-Campbell has a B. A. from Oberlin College in Philosophy and Psychology and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Rhode Island School of Design in Photography. He trained in healing with Dora Kunz of the Theosophical Society.
He founded Touching Dialogue in the late 1980’s and wrote a book with the same title.
He has a European Certificate of Psychotherapy and until recently has been a member of the European Association of Gestalt Therapy. He was co-owner and co-leader of Gestalt Terapeutisk Institut from 1993 to 2008.
He likes to read Rumi and the mystical poetry of Machado and Neruda. His hobbies are making collages from his dreams, playing bridge and Ikebana (Japanese flower sculpture). More interested in being than doing.
